Pets Deserve A Holiday Too

As a pet owner, you will understand the sadness both you and the kids feel when you have to wave goodbye to your canine friend before setting off to explore the world on a luxury holiday where bringing your dog would be out of the question.

However, have you ever considered that you could still enjoy the sunny holiday experience while bringing your dog along to enjoy the adventure with you?

Luxury caravan holidays allow you to bring your beloved pet along for the ride while still enabling you and the family to have an equally fantastic experience. If you’re a newbie to travelling with your canine, here are a few tips to get you going:

  • Location is one of the most important things to decide upon when taking your dog on holiday. It is crucial that you thoroughly research each caravan park to find out the rules and regulations surrounding pets on the site; this may involve lead length, dog breeds and various other restrictions dependant on the sites initial nature. While some sites may let you bring your dog for free, others may charge a fee for bringing your pet so always enquire about additional fees before making a final decision to book a pitch.
  • You wouldn’t forget the children’s books and games so why leave the dog toys at home! Dogs, especially puppies, love to be kept entertained for hours on end and when your throwing arm has wilted a squeaky toy or chew toy will keep your dog happy for the remainder of the day. It is also important to remember suitable bedding for your dog, depending on where your dog will stay i.e. in the caravan itself or in the awning. By remembering your dog’s favourite bedding, it will enable your pet to settle in quickly on arrival and soothe their nerves about entering a foreign environment.

When taking your pet on holiday, it is always a great idea to consider how much space your dog will have to run around and enjoy their freedom without annoying neighbouring residents. Perhaps look at slightly larger pitches then you would usually stay on or enquire about purchasing extra pitch space to ensure your dog can run wild and free.

  • Be sure to plan out your pets meals so that during your stay you do not run short. Consider investing in some extra treats so that your dog can be part of the real family holiday experience.
